Old grudges never die: preventing NATO intervention

Post by giantsquid »

Hello everybody. I really appreciate the Command Live! project and I started playing Old grudges never die by the Russian side. My plan was to attack the pro-turkey militia in front of the Curds, provoking Turkey to avenge the Su-24 downing
Unfortunately, even if I do not venture outside of Syria airspace, I always induce a strong NATO reaction, with Rafale fighters starting to engage my planes after some attack run on infantry. By reading the briefing it seems I must evade a direct confrontation with Coalition (US, UK, Fr) but I was wondering if this is possible, or if the scenario is built to produce an escalation anyway.
Kind regards

Francesco

I made some more try:

Episode #2
I attacked mostly rebels Oil wells and building, trying not to get too close to Coalition planes. Everything was smooth and easy, using just Su24 and Su30 on CAP. Scored a marginal victory

Episode #3
As before I attacked the oil wells, but I wanted to be more aggressive toward Turkey, so I engaged 2 F16 coming close to my 2 Su30 CAP, attacking them while they were turning away and killing both. After a while, unfortunately, the US and UK turned hostile. I grounded most of my planes and used the excellent S400 SAM to control the sky and some fighter sweep by my 4 Su35, killing several Coalitions planes, including Awacs. In the meantime I attacked a turkey submarine with helicopter that was harassing my spy ship and a turkey Perry frigate with my Kilo SS, obtaining ceasefire.
Scored a decisive victory. Checking the log I discovered I earned many points killing Turkey units, but I got a big penalty for Coalition involvement into the conflict. I’m trying to understand if there is a way to prevent this even I’m attacking some Turkey unit in the meantime.

Thanks to the LIVE Command team for this interesting scenario. I’m buying episode #3 - Spratly in the next days.

Did another try - Episode#4

I tried to limit encounters with Coalition plane, attacking oil wells with SU24 and Su25 when US, UK, Fr planes were not around.
After finding the Turkey SS I attacked it with a Ka27 from Movska and at the same moment I engaged and sunk the turkey fregate with 10 Sandbox missiles, inducing the cease fire.

Major Victory this time.
Lost the Il38 because I came too close to turkey Hawk Sam along the coast and the Ka27 at the very last moment because of Typhoons fighters after I sunk the sub. They were later killed by S400.
