RE: New Air Art
I look forward to seeing what you decide to make - I've taken to modding the art myself - the interface and ship sides for now, but I'm sure I'll take a crack at the planes at some point. [:D]

RE: New Air Art
This would be kind of cool for an alternative history mod, or for that matter, even to be added to the vanilla game:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brewster_SB2A_Buccaneer
Perhaps had the Dutch held out longer they might have gotten deliveries of the Bermuda/Buccaneer as apparently planned. This could maybe be factored into a standard historical game if the Dutch forces hold out longer or if the player decides to salvage some of the squadrons playing a "Sir Robin" approach.
The SB2A (Brewster Model 340) was a development of Brewster's earlier SBA scout-bomber, sharing the single-engined, mid-winged monoplane layout of the earlier aircraft, but was larger and had a more powerful engine. It carried up to 1,000 lb (454 kg) of bombs in an internal bomb bay and for defensive purposes was fitted with a power-operated turret armed with two .30 in machine guns supplementing a further four forward-firing guns.
The US Navy ordered a prototype XSB2A on 4 April 1939, which first flew on 17 June 1941.[1] Large-scale orders had already been placed by this time, however, with the United Kingdom ordering 750 aircraft as the Brewster Bermuda and the Netherlands ordering a further 162 to equip the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army Air Force.[2] The first US Navy production order, for 140 aircraft, was placed on 24 December 1940.[1]
The RAAF had plans to order approximately 240 Bermudas in mid-1941 to re-equip 11 squadrons, but problems with the plane led the RAAF to cancel the order in November 1941, opting instead for the Vultee Vengeance.[2]

Was looking at the Buccaneer art a little more and decided it looked a little too 2D-ish. This is a slightly improved set. Also added fin flashes for the FAA versions.

One more for good luck. The Wiki article says the SB2As were intended for the Dutch Army Air Force. I think the color scheme for the Dutch SB2A above may be the Navy color. So here's another version sporting what I believe may have been the Army Air Force's colors. In any case, there are now two SB2As for the DEI to choose from.

Fokker T VIII. Only 36 were produced and none apparently served in the DEI, however, another "what if" plane for the Dutch.

And the preview:
I'm particularly proud of this one. I couldn't find a good line drawing to use so I had to improvise. This one started life as a very poor quality color plate. So I used the color plate to make my own line drawing via paint shop.

Probably the last one for this evening: I'm calling this a Fokker T VIII/B. Completely hypothetical, a T VIII without the floats, basically a land based medium bomber or torpedo bomber.
