I'm curious that you didn't take the X on the Erebus. That ship is so bad, that I really don't mind too much if it sinks.
I thought I knew how to play this game....

Both sides remain to fight another round. I'm assuming no additional allied air will be flown (only one available is a Spitfire I). Italians commit the sub.

Searches: Axis 9, Allies 9. Both sides gave up trying. Axis ships abort to Bordeaux, where do the Allied ones go?

Japanese HQ attacks against partisan with 2 points of ground support. I believe Allies choose assault for that attack (7:1)?

Germany attacks against disorganized Spanish units. No ground support from Germany. Does CW want to send any planes? Germany can intercept only by FTR3.

If your attack is going really well, it's an ambush.

****ing internet is available in 30 second, 5 minute or similar chunks at the moment. ****ing BT are totally incompetent - made worse by the fact they don't seem to ****ing care. Rant over.

Will try and keep logging on in order to get some game time this weekend. If you hear nothing then you know why.

I recently renewed for 12 months with this mob. I am going to have to write a complaint to the chairman's office to tell him how rubbish his company is and demand they tear up the 12 month contract.

If I give an X to Erebus - she almost certainly sinks (unless I get extremely lucky). If I put elements of the old 5th Battle Squadron in the way, then (unless I get unlucky) the venerable Valiant and Barham will survive - and allow Erebus to survive too.

Erebus is not 'bad' - she is perfectly good for convoy defence. At this time the CW cannot afford to lose such precious ships.

Of course, the CW cannot afford to lose Valiant and Barham either - but because of the odds, I felt the action taken was the best way to keep all three in the game and I still had a fleet in the Bay of Biscay to take on the German survivors had I been lucky enough to find them.

That was my thinking - I am sure others will disagree.....

Well Mr. Warspite, take note that I agree with you. I would have put the X on the Valiant too. If there wouldn't have been a BB with a 2 or 3 on defense, I would have thosen the Erebus.

It's not the fact that it is a usefull ship for convoy escort duty, but the fact that a loss of a cruiser is bad for the CW (especially when not playing with the light cruisers), even if that cruiser is the old and obsolete Erebus. One or two BB lost by the CW is just a scratch. A couple of cruisers lost means problems with convoy escort duties...
