Benefits of morale on HQ's and airfields

Post by Dinglir »

What does morale do on airfields and HQ units?

On divisions it decides how well the unit will do in combat, but what does it do on HQ's and airfields?

Interested in this question too, does no one knows it? How to gain HQ morale? By wins of subordinate units?

Im not 100% either as to its effects but I imagine it enhances the support squads the HQ lends to combat units.

As to airbase morale---no idea, unless it speeds up repair or something.

Morvael, as far as I understand it, you have access to the game code. Could you please clear up things?

In one game I now have three guards air bases. Guard status give a bonus to national morale and that again means a higher unit morale "baseline". So, over time, those airfields will have a higher morale than my other airfields.

That's all very good, but what use is a guards airbase as opposed to a normal airbase? They both have a CV of 0, so the morale bonus for combat is kind of useless. All the airgroups on the airbase have their own morale and increases and drops in that is based on leaders and combat performance as far as I know.

So what use is a higher morale on an airbase unit?

Apparently, Guard status on an Army HQ now gives a +1 modifier to leader Admin rating. Does that also apply to Airbases? I am a little confused regarding the sequence of rules changes as well: Does the +1 Admin rating apply to non guard divisions attached to a Guards Army?

Are my Guards Airbases just pretty red counters, or does the guards status on these units actually signify something useful?

Higher morale does impact movement points. So you may want higher morale HQs and airbases accompanying motorised thrusts.

Have you ever seen HQs and airbases without 50MPs at the start of the turn? I haven't, but I haven't played that much either
But maybe it affects how many support squads are sent to the subordinate units?

He meant movement trough enemy controled hexes .

a hq with morale 86+ can travel 25 hexes over clear open terain .
a hq with morale 71+ can travel 16 hexes over clear open terain .
a hq with morale 56+ can travel 12 hexes over clear open terain .
