SSM SS-2 Issue

Post by TheOriginalOverlord »

Not sure if bug or CWDB issue.

test scenario with Sov SS-2 Sibling SSM. (V-2 copy) fire it at target ~250nm away (max range ~300nm) after about 50nm you get "ss-2 has run out of energy and self destructs." message.

FYI...

Hi Overlord

Just gave it a shot and worked fine.

Have you updated the scenario to use the latest database (where the fix was done)?

To check what db the scenario uses just go to the Editor Drop down->Database-->Change Database and see what versions checked off. If its not Cold War Database 456 you're using an old one that doesn't have the fix.

If you need to update you can find detailed instructions in the manual but go to the Editor Dropdown->database->Update Scenario to the latest Database->and follow instructions from there.

Thanks!

Just ran some tests with it and noted a small problem..not sure if it needs to be here or in the DB forum.

Long story short the SS-2 power for band 1 cruise speed is 0-65000ft and 200kt. So what happens on reentry to the target a few miles out...it's falling at 2500kts and as it hits 65k ft it immediately hits the brakes and slows from 2500kts to 200 in a matter of seconds and then slowly "falls" into the target. Seems it should be doing ~2500kts all the way to the ground...after all it's a copy of the German V2.

Also it has a high malfunction rate... fired 12 missles...only one exploded but it missed by 1500ft.

Looks like its broke the same way again... worked in CWDB build 456. Updated to current CWDB 470...no worky with same problem...

And can the malfunction rate be lowered some..fired 10 or 12 and all but one malfunctioned...
