Modelling

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Modelling

Post by Deathtreader »

Hi,

Just wondering if there are any plans to model amphibious, air landing/parachute, helo-borne troops for SS. I realize you can partially do this with set-up hexes on beaches or drop zones but then there are no landing craft or troop transports or helo troop carriers involved. Might be a nice addition........

Helo-borne is being talked for SS. Para's may be possible too. Amphib Ops probably not in SS, but I'm sure we will get to it as other projects are worked. Mainly the addition of ships/water as a major element would take some doing and we are more focused with the land action right now. As you point out you could start with units "coming ashore".
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!

I am working on a mechanism for unit transport. I intend that to apply to many modes of transport: wheels/tracks, ferries/landing craft, helos for air assault, helos and fixed wing for airdrop. Burros and wagons, even.
