The 3 Jap cruisers probably aren't really sunk, but they are at least useless for any more of the West Coast campaign. So strategically they're down 3 good ships.

Yeah I know. Hence I wrote "in my dreams"... [:)]

I did get 82 VPs from sunk ships this turn though. One of them might have...if so probably Takao.

Turn off to Jeff. I´m leaving town and will be back on Wednesday.

I´ll have internet access but not access to the game. Hopefully I get the CR so I can post anything important.

Back home. No turn but I got the replay.

No CR though and considering the major sync issues last turn I don´t think its really meaningful to do a full update until I have the CR.

If my replay is correct it was a good allied turn with one bad apple. P47s made a mess of mostly a Zero CAP. We secured Port Blair, landed our first Paperclip forces and made a good attack at LA shaving off another 200 AV from the Japanese forces. Losses were about even. A 1:2 attack.

A Japanese sub managed to sink a fully laden allied xAP though. We lost almost 3000 men. Around 150 support squads destroyed. Ouch.

Still nothing from Lowpe. Odd. Emailed him 3 days ago about the CR and then again yesterday telling him I´m home and reminding him of the CR.

Anyway. Here is the Japanese WC CAP. Extremely weak and the zeroes took a huge pounding.
Morning Air attack on Santa Ana , at 226,76

Weather in hex: Clear sky

Raid detected at 18 NM, estimated altitude 33,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 5 minutes

Japanese aircraft
A6M5 Zero x 56
Ki-43-IIb Oscar x 19
Ki-44-IIb Tojo x 4

Allied aircraft
P-47D2 Thunderbolt x 22

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M5 Zero: 3 destroyed
Ki-43-IIb Oscar: 1 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
P-47D2 Thunderbolt: 1 destroyed

The next sweep only 33 Zeroes on CAP. The sweep after that saw 4...

I think I lost 2-6 P47s but its really hard to tell since I can only estimate OP losses.

Another good hit here. About equal damage but I can take the losses. Jeff can´t forever. Remember that this attack was done before the replacement division for the 40th Motorized has arrived. I have another 3 divisions in reserve that I can rotate in if needed.

How long can he keep this up?

Hmmmm....he has time for his "Downfall" game.

A real shame that he appears to be letting this game slide, just when it was getting interesting.

Hmmmm....he has time for his "Downfall" game.

Yeah, I knew from the start this game would come secondly. But he has kept up a very good pace and we have done at least 1 per day from the get go. Not seldom 2 or even 3 turns per day.

But since his WC OP started to bog down we have hardly done 1 per week. Even after I have been gone for several days I have had to wait several days more for the turn. I sent him a turn before I left Friday evening. Its now 6 days since and I still don´t have the turn.

I know from personal experience motivation takes a dive from time to time. Especially when things go badly. I might ask for a day or two off from the game but then I deliver at the usual pace. This pace makes me lose interest in the game and it forces me to spend a lot more time on the turn just going through everything and trying to remember what I was going to do. Its also hard to motivate myself to do all the "boring behind the scenes" stuff since I´m not sure this game will go much further. This obviously might have a negative impact on the game if it does continue.

Going to give Jeff a little more time to find his motivation but my patience is starting to wear out.

I would stress patience. Lowpe will finish the game and see it out as long as he can, although motivation might be affecting the current turn response. Hopefully things will pickup when his '44/'45 game ends soon.

He has also been falling behind because he had to get a new laptop and get his games to work on it. He may be wanting to iron out all the kinks playing the other game before doing too much with Jocke's PBEM.

He told me earlier this week he was getting slammed (i assume at work). I don't think he is intentionally dragging his feet here, but he just has other stuff going on. I just got a turn back I sent him on Tuesday.

And sheesh, I'm killing him as quickly as I can. 3:1 is a real bear. Only about a month left until 2:1 kicks in.[:)]

Finally got the turn. Another fantastic day in the air. Although 2 P47s where lost they shot down 47 planes! My list of aces is growing fast! [&o]

Both objectives secured. Low on supply at Little Andaman though so I can´t fly CAP from there until I land more. Port Blairs air field is absolutely wrecked and won´t support any planes for a couple of days.

So I have decided to pull back all forces for now. CVs need to replenish planes and SCTF need to reload ammo. We will return shortly with more supply, BFs and Aux ships as well as proper naval search.

The troops took a bit of a hit in FAT/DIS and will rest for a day. This will also allow the reinforcements to arrive. Doesn´t look like Jeff is intending to leave anytime soon. A huge armada of ships have left the WC for PH.

Tomorrow P38s will sweep together with some P39s/P40Es. The day after that I should have 2 Corsair squadrons ready together with most P40ks. Rince and repeat...Jeff has taken "impossible" losses in the air the last 5-6 days. I know its often futile to hope for Japanese pools to run out but he has lost 343 planes during the last 6 days. About 2/3rd of that fighters.

First allied forces land in the Solomons! [&o] A small force was dropped off at Kirakira. No Japanese auto bombardment despite the Guards Mixed Brigade there. No supply? Or have they withered away?

P38s provide cover from Ndeni shooting down a large number of Betties. Good work considering the distance. Many got through though but I´m only using xAKLs and DDs for cover.

I messed up here though and it was supposed to be a landing at Rennel Island at the same time...but I ran out of fuel. [:o] Forgot to turn off refueling for a CA TF and it drained the fuel at Luganville. Will be about a week before I rectify that.

Auto Victory
_____________________________________________________________________________

The last few days have been very kind to the allies. The VP situation has certainly taken a turn for the better thanks to lots of Japanese plane and ship losses. But we are also gaining VPs from Japanese LCU losses and despite huge losses taken from Japanese bombardments at Chungking we are keeping up.

Overall the VP ratio has not been this good since early 42. Hopefully we will drop down under 3:1 shortly. The window for Japanese AV is now gone I think. He is 12500 short at the moment and I don´t see how Jeff can find that somewhere.

Regarding Auto Victory, great job putting the Allies in a position to fight the war to the bitter end.
