Don't care about Ibrahimovic and his ego, but sorry for Sweden as I would have liked to see them progress for me ol' mucker Ormster [:(]

Now France or (I hope) Wales and then onwards to the final - I'd predict an Albania v Northern Ireland final though that may be slightly wishful thinking, we'll probably end up playing Iceland [:D]

So it is going to be Iceland we're playing in the final [:)]

Well it certainly isn't going to be England...

Usually, top player, have big big egos... Personally, I don't care with what they say and do in their private lives.
What they do in the pitch is what is really important. And Ibra is a real magician....

If Iceland have a bad day we could end up playing England in the finals - England beat Iceland, then in the Quarters England beat Ireland, then in the Semis England beat Germany on penalties ... wait a minute something seems wrong about that last bit.

The last bit? I think you are being ridiculously optimistic about England's chances.... IF Iceland get unlucky and lose to us, then France or Ireland will show them where they went wrong.

So - two rest days and then a weekend of football. Can't wait for Wales vs Northern Ireland [8D][:)] Croatia vs Portugal should be good, then France vs Ireland and Hungary vs Belgium before finishing off on Monday after work with Italy vs Spain and England vs Iceland.

Nice. [:)]

Well, but this is really a strange Euro...

I dare each one of you to tell me if anyone would have predicted that Sweden would be going home (that could happen, ok, tough group), BUT Iceland, Hungary and Northern Ireland would advance to round of 16...[X(]

Very entertaining, indeed. [:D]

Genuine, apparently.

I am not saying that you are wrong about Roy and England. But, may I humbly suggest, that you let them play first. They are, after all, through to the next stage. Undefeated I might add.

[:)]

I've got no issues with Roy, he's doing a better job than I am. [:D] I still get to complain about Jordan Henderson though [;)]

My post was more a comment on the section of fans who seem to view Iceland as an easy match. Icelend who have the same group record as England. Who are actually quite good defensively.

... Argentinians, ..

aargh, as a Scotland fan of a certain age I try not to think of the outbreak of national hubris/idiocy which was Scotland in the 1978 World Cup.

I must admit I am really enjoying these euros (even if we were too inept to actually qualify), but do suspect that by the QF stage the old traditional order will start to re-asset itself
warspite1

Yes, I was referring to 1986 of course [:)]

No wish to deepen your gloom by bringing up 1978.... My first World Cup was 1974 and still clearly remember the Scots unluckily going out without being beaten (courtesy of not being able to score enough against Zaire). But 1978 was something quite different wasn't it? What is there that is left to be said about "Ally's army" and that whole sorry debacle?..... probably nothing would be best [;)] Well, there's always a silver lining - Archie Gemmill [&o]

My first World Cup that I can really remember was USA '94 where I just watched for the sake of it. I watched some of Italia '90 but I wasn't really into football at that point.
Euro '96 I remember well, all rosy tinted round the edges [:D]

Just wondering, what will happen in PL with EU players now? Will PL go back to its former strict rules where you need a certain ammount of national appearances to be allowed to play in the PL? What about those players with a current PL contract?

Italia'90 and Euro '96 have been the best I've seen England in a major comp. At the moment we are suffering from a condition we seem to have had for the last twenty years and that we seem to get stuck in a cycle of passing the ball around the opponents box until eventually we finally do a shit final ball or a pass goes astray..

Another condition affects our best players of a generation and that's an inability to rise to the big competitions and perform at their best once an England shirt is put on..Rooney and going back Barnes or in the recent past pretty much the whole team the not so golden generation.

Interesting that Harry Kane says he is not tired. This is either:

a) untrue, but he is desperate to play and so just saying it to secure a place
b) true, in which case he has simply played poorly in the last few games of the season for Spurs and subsequently for England.....
