Odd behaviour putting escorts on Land Strike Missions - doesn't work properly

Post by ColonelMolerat »

Edit 2:

It still seems to happen intermittently. It should be broken on the attached save, but I'm not sure what breaks it. (Sorry, I removed the 'resolved' tag.)

Edit:

Since posting, I've been able to assign normally both ways. I'm not sure what was happening, sorry.

If you try to assign a group of planes that is already in the air, and has no land strike capability, to escort a land strike mission, it doesn't seem to work properly.

If you go to 'Unit Orders > Assign to Mission > [Strike Mission]- Escort', they are simply assigned to the normal strike mission, and RTB since they have no suitable weapons.

If you use the mission editor, you can't assign them to the mission (with the intention to then mark them as escorts) because they don't have suitable weapons.

The only way I was able to do it was to pause the game, assign them to the mission using 'Unit Orders > Assign to Mission', then, with the game still paused, open the mission editor and 'Mark as Escorts'.

In the attached save, the strike mission is called 'SEAD' and the planes I'm trying to act as escorts are 'Group 6377' (the most South Easterly group).

I hope that's all clear enough.
