I have enjoyed being in the area again greatly. I had two breaded pork tenderloin sandwiches and country fried steak. Heaven!

I love pork tenderloin sandwiches and country fried steak, but I miss terribly HoJo's tendersweet clam rolls. It is hard to find any place that offers fried clam strips and when you do they are either overcooked or the oil was past its expiration date, nay hour. I think there should be a Federal law requiring lots of fried clam strips where ever you go.

***edit: with tartar sauce of course.

Argh! You are stirring the bitter tea I just drank.

We pulled off near Wheeling, at an old HOJO we used to stop at as a kid, 40 years ago and it is still there, as something else now unfortunately.

No clam rolls. No peppermint stick ice cream. I could cry.

I did run across two Stucky's and pondered buying the salt water taffy, but it came in a plastic bag instead of a box and just couldn't.

HIJACK!!!!!
This thread was hijacked....but since we are now talking food....I worked my way thru college with different jobs, depending on my semester schedule, and one year I was a dishwasher at HOJO's..(A free meal was provided every shift and I sure miss them).
For fried clams, (the ONLY way to have them, My scuba buddy and I used to go to LUM's, a chain no longer in existance I guess, but at one time it was so large as a chain, they even had one in Frankfurt Am Main...

The original Lum's location closed in 1983.[5] There are two LUMS operating. One is in Bellevue, Nebraska, south of Omaha[6] In 2010 a Lum's opened in Seekonk, Massachusetts.[7]

Lum's in Seekonk Massachusetts is no longer open leaving the one in Bellevue, NE as the sole location

For a time in the '70s, the company's commercial spokesman was Milton Berle.

I gotta go with the GORN on clams. The old HoJo clam roll was heaven!

When I lived in Conn. (coast side) there were many restaurants that offered 2 for 1 lobster tails, for about $9!! They were not huge, but 2 made a mighty fine meal.

It should be easy - lobster tails are already curled into a semi-circle, so just staple the ends together! Roll them in batter and deep fry them if you figure you need the extra calories!
