Three quick questions

Post by UP844 »

1. Are the dates of availability for AFVs/Ordnance/SW hardcoded? (in other words, does the game allow selecting Pershings in 1942?)

2. Is there a single type (3-hex range) of Panzerfaust?

3. Infantry gains a favourable height advantage modifier. Is this also true for AFVs? (i.e. is an AFV at higher elevation harder to hit or to kill, being considered hull down)? Conversely, is an AFV at lower elevetion easier to kill (greater chance of hits on top armor?)

As far as I know, they are not and is the reason I keep my ASL Rulebook handy. [:D]

A wise move indeed... unless one gave away his ASL Rulebook many years ago [:(]

I used to own two of them. I still have one that I know of.

How does your ASL Rulebook help you answer a question about how Peter programmed something?

1) No, but the special ammunition does depend on historical scenario date

2) The game has 3 versions of Panzerfaust, depending on the historical scenario date

3) There is no concept of hull down in the game for AFVs. Off top of my head, Infantry and its SW does have the ability to get height advantage bonus. I'm at work right now so I can't check my code.

Thanks Peter!

I think there is something wrong with the Panzerfausts if the scenario is set before June 1944. I will make some tests.

It doesn't for the actual programming itself for how the game functions but its good to know that vehicle and equipment availability is not coded into the game meaning you can use King Tigers in 1939, etc. Useful when making sure that the equipment in scenarios is actually available on the date the scenario takes place. Means the game doesn't filter out by actual availability date and so designers have to check all the dates for the equipment through other sources if they want to be accurate.

Okay. (you had lost me with the ASL Rulebook being handy in the context of the question about the programming).

Now I have three questions, before you may pass...

1. What is your name?

2. What is your quest?

3. What is the airspeed velocity of a laden swallow?

My 3 quick questions -

1. How do you do an ambush if the enemy can see your units in a building even if they haven't fired?

2.
3.

Ok one is enough for now.

1. Enable fog of war and base your ambush on line of sight and not proximity?
2. Leave both sides set to human and play one side stupid?
3. Use some "dirty nazi trick"** in the scenario editor?
