That is a rewording of an error message that, before, some people interpreted as a program crash. No crash. It's just the program saying: Sorry, the OOB isn't comprehensive enough to support the indicated specs.

He's right Berto, the generator is hosed, not cool. It was working before, Javi and I played some pbem!! I just tried 3 times, various country's, even ones I had done before like France/Algeria, no dice!

Hmm, yes, there appears to be an issue.

Thanks for pointing it out. I failed to attempt it and test it.

By testing different Middle East.exe versions over the past month, I have pinpointed the bug to coding changes made around 20160424. Did we test since then (do we always test)? Yes, but this one thing slipped through the cracks.

Sorry. I'm looking into the cause.

But that's why it's called an "Open Beta", yes?

Thanks for reporting the bug. I'm on it...

Today's 20160518 ME 1.02 Open Beta UPDATE resolves the random battle generation issue, also several random map creation issues.

If you have installed any previous UPDATEs, be sure to back them out (using the JSGME mod utility) before applying the latest patch UPDATE.

Again, thank you for your patience.

Here's a tip:

For random battle generation, when cycling through Map Type selections, the key is first to click the lock icon next to the Area arrow. This will ensure that you only see Map Types appropriate to the selected Area (either Desert or Mediterranean).

My first try at random battle generation, did not go well. I got exactly the same error as PzKw43. I didn't even touch it, I hit OK for whatever was auto filled/selected to see if it worked,..... " 67 june desert clear battalion. " Kaput...

Yes, I DLed the latest update/patch, I backed out the previous path on jgme, dled>extracted and then reactivated it...then tried the random generator...no dice.

Hello Carl,

That indicates you indeed have the Open Beta version with a faulty Battle Generator. Sorry about that. If you, with JSGME, remove the current Open Beta, and download the latest version, you should be fine.

Or, if you are OK to wait but a few days (I hope), the official 1.02 UPDATE would be out.

1.02 beta 20160514

This indicates you have a May version of the 1.02 UPDATE.

Again, if you want to try it, and so that we know for sure, deactivate all MODS, download the final Open Beta, make sure it downloads completely, unzip, place at the MODS folder, activate.

At this stage to avoid confusion perhaps wait for the official version? I am sorry to hear about your problems with the Open Beta, but they are called a Beta for a reason...

OK, I heard a rumour the official 1.02 UPDATE might be already out this Wednesday... Maybe wait for that in case you're having issues with the current Open Beta.

Just make sure to disable all mods before updating the game.
