PBEM Ironduke vs FieldOfGlory AAR series

A new PBEM video series is in the process of being made right now between myself and Ironduke1955. The goal in this series is to have some fun with it and focus on the game highlights in each video. I will leave out all the micromanagement and stick to the overall strategy and combat stats each episode. Each episode will be 10 minutes or less in total length and that will hopefully make the series easier to follow and more exciting.

So far 3 videos have been recorded and I will begin releasing them once we are further into the game. Right now we are only to turn 5.

While I am certain the Ironduke would not view any of the videos for intel until the game is finished it would not be fair to release them too soon, so as not to dangle the temptation right in front of him.

Its been a long time since I've played PVP in ATG but when I did play back in the day I faired pretty well. Ironduke1955 from what I have seen here on the forums has extensive recent PVP experience. When I played PVP there were no leaders or (TOE) although I will definitely be using both. So I guess it will be my old school ATG style vs his more updated style. Should make for a good game I think.

In my earlier days of playing AT & ATG I used some of my other forum handles that I no longer use today. Some of you may remember me as IRONCROM, HamburgerHill or PanzerKampfWagen
I played many PVP games under the handle IRONCROM but I had a death in the family and number of other family issues that came along with that. After my sudden departure from AT I later came back under HamburgerHill because I could not remember my password so it was just easier at the time to just create a new account.

EPISODE 1...

This will be a classic battle of the Germans vs the French. I will be playing the Germans in the series and my distinguished foe will being playing the French.

This will be played on a random medium Pangea type map, A New Dawn 3. A 3 turn diplomatic block will be in place. Neither player can DOW until turn 4 at the earliest.

EPISODE 2...

Episode 2 is now available. In this episode my buildup jumps to turn 2. Turn 3 is the last turn the diplomatic block is still in place.

It uses a separate at2 file (anewdawn3-db.at2) so active only when you choose it. Has no affect on the the anewdawn3.at2 file.

This episode picks up on turn 4. The diplomatic block has now been lifted and war can be declared by either player at any time.

EPISODE 5...

The fight continues. In the face of an advancing German army in the South. Ironduke pulls back his forces to consolidate his army. The Wehrmacht cautiously advances into French territory.

EPISODE 6...

Luftwaffe scores many hits and does considerable damage to French artillery and armor.

The newly commissioned Infantry army under the command of Wilhelm Von Leeb has been tasked with breaking through French lines in order to cut a vital supply road. Some at OKW question whether or not it is even possible and suggest it can only be done with armor. Field marshal Manstein has positioned Field marshal Keitel and requested the creation of a Panzer Army. "Only German armor can break the French" Manstein argues. Keitel agrees and orders his staff to draw plans. But who shall lead them?

EPISODE 7...

As Von leeb's newly formed army approaches the French lines he finds the French have been busy preparing for his arrival. He dispatches a message to Keitel that reads. "French resistance is strong, I do not believe we can break their line without armor."

As Keitel's staff has been furiously working to assemble a HQ formation to command the 1st Panzer army, Keitel has made a decision on who will lead it. Despite Field Marshal Manstein's insistence that he is the only viable candidate to lead this army, Keitel has chosen another up and coming General with great talent.

EPISODE 8...

Enter Field Marshal Erwin Rommel. The trickster AKA desert fox has unleashed his Panzers on the French lines. In this episode Rommel launches a bold attack breaking the French lines and threating French supplies.

Meanwhile down South Model's position grows stronger thanks to the help from the brave men of the German Fallschirmjager.

EPISODE 9...

Shock and awe.

Rommel unleashes his second round of attacks on the wavering French line. Many of French Infantry men are sent to meet their maker as Rommel threatens to cut off all supply to half of the French army and cut the nation in half.

The Fuhrer was reported to be jumping up and down with joy like a school boy when Keitel delivered the news of Rommel's exploits.

As of recording this Episode my opponent had resigned the game. Since then just a few minutes ago actually he expressed an interest in going a couple more turns to see how things turn out.

episode 11!...

Yes the battle rages on.

As Rommel's armor continue their attack with the help of Leeb's Infantry a bulge begins to clearly form in the French lines. French causalities begin to mount and German forces react the outskirts of Cannes. Field Marshal Leeb promises Keitel that Cannes will be under German control within the next 2 months.

Rommel begins to direct his attention towards cutting the French reinforcements by taking the main Junction to the west that feeds all of the French forces in the Southern region.

Message to OKW from Field Marshal Rommel, message reads "Our fuel situation has grown desperate. I cannot capture the rail junction before winter unless you find me more petrol."

Private meeting between Field Marshal Keitel & The Fuhrer...
Fuhrer - "Keitel what is this I here from Rommel that we have run out of petrol? How can this happen!"
Keitel - "Apologies My Fuhrer, my supply officers did not inform me the fuel situation had grown so dire. I take full responsibility."
Fuhrer - "Have the officer in charge of the petrol stockpile executed immediately! Then I want you to personally go to each supply depot and execute every 10th man!"
Keitel - "But my Fuhrer, young men are too hard to come by. I cannot replace them. We need every man to fight the French."
Fuhrer - "I see. I understand we have been Training a Volksstrum to help defend our Capitol. Goebbels informs me they are mostly older men unfit for normal combat. Perhaps you should put these older recruits in charge of the supply depots and send those young fools to front! Maybe they will be able to count bullets better than they can count barrels of Petrol!"
Keitel - "Yes of course my Fuhrer, it will be done immediately. I will have our Engineers go to work ASAP to insure our oil production will meet our war demands as well my Fuhrer."

EPISODE 13...

Field Marshal Kluge moves his army in to surround Brest from the West. The city of Brest is under constant bombardment from German artillery and Field Marshal Keitel is certain it will fall soon. Field Marshal Bock is not so sure Brest can be taken before winter as his army has been besieging Brest for months now with little to show for it accept German body bags.

Meanwhile in the West Rommel 1st Panzer army has managed to clear out the area surrounding the Central road and begun to redirect his armor towards the Western junction. Spirits are very high indeed within the ranks of Rommel's and Leeb's armies. Many believe the war will be over before Christmas and they will be able to go home to their families.

EPISODE 14...

As German oil reserves increase French forces flee west away from Rommel's 1st Panzer army towards the narrows located next to the central junction. Rommel's fast Panzers are in hot pursuit and continue to attack the French even as they flee.

In the South Brest takes another beating, Kluge's forces are quickly eroding the French forces around Brest with the help of an armored detachment from Rommel's 1st Panzer.

episode 15...

Germany's focus on increasing oil production has come at a price. Reinforcements have been very lean for several months now, meanwhile many Infantry formations are getting low on Mortar and Rommel's 1st Panzer is getting low on armored cars. With oil resources now exceeding Germany's needs factories and production can now focus on fulfilling the need of our armies. Many new armor units will be dispatched to replenish the 1st Panzer's moderate to heavy losses from enemy Anti-tank artillery.

Down in the South Brest is surrounded on 4 sides from elements of Kluge's, Rommel's and Bock's armies. The situation there is looking bleak for the besieged French forces.
