can you ID the ship class in this ?

Post by oaltinyay »

Just found this somewhere in youtube :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2nc0ttDClI&spfreload=5

can you help me to ID the ship in 0:37 and 0:51 ?

Triple turrets forward but the bridge kind of looks to small for a light cruiser.

No, but it looks like there's a new satellite dish on top. Somebody is living in that thing. [X(]

I wonder what the neighborhood association has to say about all that rust?

Soviet Sverdlov class light cruiser. And in case you don't believe me, here's the proof. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3uKLzSPul1o/U ... 0/ship.jpg I used to fly on these bad boys. At one time there were 26 of them. One was given to Indonesia.

What a sad end to a proud ship. You would think they could at least scrap it and be able to say she donated her metal to the betterment of the nation. Russian economy was so borked after the USSR fell apart that they couldn't even keep the steel industries producing much. Ugly outcome of years of mismanagement.

Judging by this picture quite a lot of the structure has been cut away:
