GD1938 Game 23

Post by cpdeyoung »

10 January 1938

We contemplate some actions that may lead to armed conflict. The victorious powers from the Great War are determined to crush Germany, and we must defend her.

There is a very limited window of opportunity before they use their resources to overwhelm us.

I think the Germans and Italians have played, and we are waiting on Bombur.

I played the Italian turn was with version 1 and now there is a version 2 in the folder. Not sure what that means, just wondering. And, are we agreeing on some sort of house rules about victory conditions, and hexes?

Yes I would like to know that to, as the new version is out there and we are only one turn in makes sense to restart.
Are we like late Rome, infatuated with past glories, ruled by a complacent, greedy elite, and hopelessly powerless to respond to changing conditions?

I would be interested if you guys restarted with 221x. That is interested in following the game, not joining it. :)

I vote for restart, but we need to set house rules, if we play with the new victory conditions.

I would suggest only two house rules

1-No fake wars
2-You cannot give VP hexes to an ally if he has more VP than you

The new victory conditions introduce a big change in the diplomatic system, since you now need a dominat power allied with one or more secondary powers. I think it will likely block an alliance between Germany and USSR because, being Eurasian powers, it´s unlikely that one of them will reach 33% of VP. But I would like to see what happens with a minimum set of house rules.

I am good with the house rules Bombur proposed and with a restart using latest version.

I posted a note in "Opponents Wanted" asking to switch to the Americans. I just don't have time for the Germans.

If Larry is interested in the Germans then perhaps someone could jump in as the Chinese. I will play them both but Bombur deserves to have two different players.

If the Germans are available then they are my favourite power, I will happily play the Germans, made so many errors in game 22 give me a chance to put them right, so if Chuck is the USA if someone wants the USSR then that would be great.

Ironduke taking over the Germans (starting version x) is okay with me.
Cpdeyoung taking over the Americans is also okay with me.
Could someone point out which nations are still available????
I prefer the Japanese if someone takes over China instead of the American player. But I think someone already has them.

Larry, could you do a Stalin?

I do not know if you have ever done the Soviet Union. I assure you it is an experience against Tom Main's Germans!

You will have a staunch ally in my Americans when they get in.

I could go Chinese if another player is needed.
