Soviet Airborne Corps HQs

Post by wga8888 »

after a dozen turns or so, all Soviet Corps HQs are disbanded except for the Airborne Corps HQs. As the general advice is not to use the airborne units on the front lines but instead save for later use as airborne units, are the Airborne Corps HQs necessary? Should they also be disbanded?

I disband them if their units are scattered and assign the units to armies. End up disbanding them anyway as there are better uses for their men + kit

They would be good as extra level of command if there would be many good Soviet leaders. But as one struggles to put one good in every army there is not enough to also fill corps. Maybe they could be of some use at the rear, training troops with good morale and admin leaders (could be poor in initiative and combat skills).

At one time some would attach breakthrough artillery divisions to them.

That's why I keep them around.

Not that you don't have enough armies, once all your divisions convert to Corps. But until then, Airborne Corps do just fine.
