Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Sandy Koufax led the National League with 11 shutouts and also captured the league's Most Valuable Player and Cy Young Award in 1963. His 11 shutouts are also the single-season record by any left-handed pitcher.

Sandy Koufax was one of my boyhood idols. I too was a blazingly fast, strikeout artist left-handed pitcher, and foolishly I modeled my delivery after Koufax' high-kick style. [:-] I walked more batters than I struck out. [:D]

Koufax was my idol too, you are suppose to idolize (model) your delivery after your idol...even if it doesn't work. [;)]
