Total war kingdoms on IOS

Has anyone looked at/played Total War Kingdoms on IOS? I am really itching for a good, realistic, medieval game without all of the magic stuff.

This game looked promising (although I should have known better), but having played a bit I am generally confused but have drawn two conclusions:
1). You basically can't do anything in the game unless you make in game purchases of gold; and
2). The combat model does not seem realistic at all; without even getting into the flaming catapult bolts encountered in battles, it looks like the two sides simply run at each other and hack away until one side is eliminated. And the battlefields are very narrow, so there is zero room for maneuver.

Does anyone have a different impression of the game? I've been playing on my iPhone so easily might have missed something...

Tom, do you mean "Medieval II: Total War Kingdoms"? [&:]

It's actually called "total war battles kingdom" as far as I can tell, by creative assembly and Sega. It seems to be a pretty high budget affair, but I'm having a hard time getting into it.

Oh I see...Total War Battles: KINGDOM, the base game for the PC is free to play on Steam, looks like it's pay as you go after that...a Grepolis type game? [&:]

Don't know grepolis, but the steam reviews for kingdom are unanimously bad. Amazing how a big company would spend so much on such a bad game...

With all due respect, the reviews are not "unanimously bad", pretty even actually...I might give it a go!

Hmmm all the reviews on the front page were bad. Knock yourself out, give it a try, but don't say I didn't tell you so!

The game looks quite good, but I would read some of the negative reviews before spending much time/money on it.

Thanks Jain. I've actually got this game, but a.ways found a he UI very confusing; I will take another look.
