Victoria Cross action

Post by UP844 »

Near Ortona, Italy, December 14, 1943:

1) Lt. Paul Triquet (the B** leader) and a squad from Company C, Royal 22eme Regiment are about to take Casa Berardi; some Ontario Regiment Shermans provide fire support.
2) First German (failed) counterattack
3) Second German (failed) counterattack (most units in the stack are broken survivors from the previous attempt)

By sheer chance, the outcome has been 100% historically accurate: 14 men of the 22eme took Casa Berardi and held it against German counterattacks.
