Noob looking for GC 41-45 game, round 2 (closed)

Post by RKhan »

Ok, I have had one short game as Soviets but I didn't even get out of 1941 so I feel like I'm still in the noob category - asking silly rules questions and posting nonsensical opinions on crap I know nothing about.[8|]

So time to give it another go. [:)]

I have no idea how much credit to give to the various opinions about how the latest patch has made life too easy for the Germans. However, I still want to give the Soviets a go by preference as there is a lot I wanted to try out in my first game before it was cut short. The best idea I can come up with is to see who will give me the most favourable terms. Experience level will come into it as well.

My opening position for a player of similar experience is this:

Server based game
Alt VC260 (essentially a win in my book whatever the game makes possible)
Full FOW
Locked HQs
Random weather
Mild Winter
Soviet attack bonus (my sop to the patch debate)
Patch upgrades as they come out (with great trepidation)
No bombing airfields more than 3 times after turn 1
No bombing HQs not stacked with combat units.

It this proposal doesn't make sense its only because I don't know better so I appreciate feedback. Please post or PM your counter offers, if any. I take a month off in summer (if I last that long!).

Also, there is a fair chance I might start an AAR in order to display my ineptitude for everyone....[:'(]

I'm not having much luck nailing anything down yet. Perhaps I should clarify what I would like a bit more.

Minimal requirements:

Server game (1.08.07) (sorry)
Alt VC260
Locked HQ Support
Full FOW

House Rules:

No Para drops
No bombing of air bases more than 3 times a turn (after turn 1)
No bombing of HQ's unless stacked with a ground unit
No naval invasions before November 1941, none outside the 1939 Soviet borders before January 1943
In addition if Sevastopol is either isolated, or in German hands, none west of the Crimea.
30 day rule = no turns in 30 days by one player the other wins by default except as agreed in advance (summer holiday)
New official Patches will be used as soon as possible.

Additional Auto VC:
If the Axis player holds
Leningrad, Moscow, Voronezh and Rostov concurrently at any time in 1941 he wins an Auto Victory.

Mild Blizzard Rules
Random Weather
No 1:1 = 2:1

Desirable:
One para drop per year (December to November) up to 3 brigades and none before 12/41. (I'm really not clear why this is ruled out most the time. I imagine because the Soviets weren't very good at it, but they weren't good at mounting armoured attacks for 2 years either and we don't rule that out...)
+1 soviet attack bonus if German is very experienced. I still only have one short game behind me.

Obviously the last 2 can be dropped.
