BoB 1940 full - Too easy to achieve a non-air superiority victory?

Post by quertice »

This is my first game with EDtBtR, I'm trying from the first turn to win a non-air superiority victory, this is the score after 19 turns:

I think I can't get over actual industry damage points, almost all southern England industries are destroyed, Bf 109 can't escort bombers to attack other industrial targets:

Meanwhile terror score is still increasing in easy way, english night fighters can't do anything to defend english towns, so total score is steady going towards 16 to achieve a non air superiority victory.

Luftwaffe is still in a well state, still many ready aircraft:

There aren't almost anymore stockpile fighters from the previous turn:

So I had to reduce the number of daily sorties to reduce fighter losses, but I can still keep night bombing working well as in the first turn.

effects of night bombing after 19 turns:

Campaign information:

So germany can win in easy way just doing really massive night bombing from first turn? against an human opponent would it be different?

Most of my wins are non air superiority. How can you seriously pursue an air superiority win when your fighters can't make it pasted London? I do a lot of night bombing, but it is so inaccurate. It may take weeks to do much damage, and terror points take forever to build up. I have yet to see a quick win for it.

What is this map mod?
Looks very clear! Better than the stock one, it's a bit too blurry.

That's an impressive industrial score racked up quickly!

I'm curious, what's the typical structure of your raids?
I've been going for a (historically flawed) attempt at air superiority while also trying to get as much industry damage as I can when the path is clear - and I've been finding it very slow going. I've been hitting Group 11 air fields and CH sites repeatedly and to pretty good effect even with rather small strikes, but on industry my fortune had been pretty mixed. In my most recent turn, I had some 500 bombers sent in a synchronized group of raids (60-100 bombers each, flying at 13-18k feet) at the oil facilities in the Thames Estuary, and despite taking very few losses and making good drops, the actual damage was pretty dismal. In fact only one target took more than 10% damage.

I think you may be right of course, particularly against the AI - I'm curious though how a human opponent might make that strategy more difficult for you!

As a postscript - I did get (I think?) my air superiority victory on the first try. At least I did manage to get to over 8pts of air superiority by day 31, which incidentally was also the day I hit more than 16 pts total. So I guess it's also a non-air-superiority victory at the same time! [:)]

I love this map mod, it isn't beautiful but it's much clearer than stock one, and this is the most important for a wargame

I'm sorry but I can't remember much about I played that game, months passed and that was my first and the only one game with BoB, I just remember I was used to do few but big raids with many escorts, 4 or 5 bf 109 for every bomber, even 6 bf 109 for slower bombers, my focus was to preserve forces, few bombers on England per day so little damages on english factories per day, but little damages for many days sum on heavy damage and so it gets a non-air superiority victory after weeks

here's my AAR of that game http://www.netwargamingitalia.net/forum ... aar.28548/, it's in italian, but if you're curious you may find more information by means of pics
