Hollis P. Wood. Where Horrywood! Right here.

Loved that go around between the Japanese and Slim. Almost fell out of my chair with the whole Prune juice thing.

My grandfather was stationed in Argentia when this happened, but my grandmother was living in Pomona. According to her, which really isn't a surprise, an number of people were killed by falling shells.

For another 'Battle of LA', check into the Zoot Suit Riots of May/June 1943.

Love that movie....

So did I, but Spielberg "bombed" with "1941."

re IMDb, "This [film] was regarded as such a failure in the US that when the advance teaser trailer for Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) was made, it listed all of Steven Spielberg's previous films except this one."

Strange, isn't it? On Polish television we have constant re-runs of all Indiana Jones installments, but I haven't seen "1941" in, what, twenty years? Sometimes I doubt this film really exists.

When it first came out I didn't find 1941 that enjoyable, but in recent years I appreciate it much more.

I seem to recall industry wags explaining that 1941 is what a movie looks like when the creative team is paid in white powder.

It is a cult movie - so bad it becomes a classic for the cheesy lines and slapstick comedy.

They probably made it up. 106 SSNs are reserved for New York, but even to this day the 106 block has not been issued yet.

There is a social security number that is the most used in history. A funny story really:

I'd heard of damage, due to the 'incident', but not causalities. Interesting.

I knew, and I guess even understand, folks being twitchy. Heck, it could even have been a real Glen on a recon mission of some sort. I never knew they lit up the skies.
