Crash on game startup

I've recently purchased the game on Steam. Running it from Steam brings me to the game launcher. From there I click "Play Game" and it begins up by playing 3 intro movies. But once the 3rd movie is finished and the game itself begins to load, it immediately freezes and I have to force close it. The progress bar of the game loading does not progress at all.

I am using the latest version (1.08.07) and not the beta. I see here that the game sound can cause problems but am not sure if that is the case for me. I have attached a view of my dxdiag and would appreciate any advice. Thank you.

Thank you for the response. Unfortunately this did not have any effect on the problem. Is there anything else I can try?
