Engagement range

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Engagement range

Post by HobbesACW »

Hi folks, still really enjoying the game and looking forward to the next version.
One thought tonight. I set an ambush which worked pretty well but now has a single difficult to hit soviet unit taking a huge amount of fire from my units. It is a low value unit that really doesn't deserve so many rounds to be expended on it. I have lost a lot of ammo! It made me think of the Campaign Series game that allows players to set global engagement ranges and also individual engagement ranges that override the global, giving players more control and preventing situations like this (also allowing for easier ambushes). The Campaign Series is a game though and FC more of a simulation so maybe it's not something that would fit. Just thought I would mention it in case anyone has any thoughts.

Cheers,
Chris

Nice!!

Would be great if it (or something approx. similar) could be adapted for Southern Storm! [&o]

Southern Storm intends to implement unit SOPs of some sort for firing engagement and scoot/displacement. Global settings and individual overrides would be good.
