Never play WiTE ... with your cat

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Never play WiTE ... with your cat

Post by loki100 »

So there I am, playing WiTE with a cat hanging around, decide its time to redeploy a single rifle division to be with the rest of its army when ....

(pause for dramatic music)

Usually the worst this one does is to stand in front of the monitor but this time ---

.... the cat headbutted my hand that was holding the mouse

I want to enter this attack into Sillyflower's competition for the most embarrasing things you have managed (when playing wargames in any case):

In the WITPAE forum I was told of a legendary player from the early days of the game, who took a picture of his cat staring at the screen, looking at the tactical map of some area in the Pacific. He added a thought cloud to the cat, "Where the hell are your PBYs?!" (that is, naval search planes). I wish I could see the picture; it would be really funny.

So did you replay that part of the turn? Would be legitimate IMHO. Or is the cat a double agent? [X(]

the 0 to 2.1 is the miracle that anyone got across the river in flood state, unfortunately the 200 guys that got across were either killed or taken POW lol.

it was clearly a fascist sabotage mission ... I've yet to meet a cat with even the faintest concept of socialism. I'm sure they decided that what Marx meant to have written was 'from each according to their abilities, to me according to my needs' ... and if you don't meet my needs, I'm off.

I hadn't saved what had been a boring admin turn, juggling air groups and planning upgrades so couldn't face restarting. It was so amusing I felt it needed to be saved for posterity.

well I do have proof that the Soviets at least believed they could train cats:

And their preferred weapon was a mouser
Molotov : This we did not deserve.

Foch : This is not peace. This is a 20 year armistice.

I have similar experience, just replace "(a) cat" with "my kid", and you will know the story.

That is one smart kid, having the cat take the sniper headshot for him.

That cat must be deaf, how else would you find a cat on a battlefield? versus hiding in a basement somewhere.

the text suggested they were using the cat to carry messages.

Anyway the WiTE playing cat has returned and made another assault on the mouse ...
