air ops unit status indications

Post by DONNIE67 »

Hello

I have a question on airplane unit status as shown in the air ops screen.

The indications typically end after the unit "takes off" but I have seen a momentary "airborne" status on a few occasions. After this the unit no longer appears in the window until it returns to base and repeats the readiness sequence.

Although the "airborne" status is shown under the mission editor screen, is it possible to show the continuous status within the air ops window
to allow for a quick high level planning view?

Thank you for your assistance.

What version of the game are you running? This number should be in the top center of the Command UI.

What you seeing in that field? You should see things like on plotted course etc. or tasked on a mission (Airborne). Could you provide a screenshot and/or a savegame showing this behavior?

Thanks!

...don't think it was a tech support ticket? Or?

I think maybe what he asked for was why it isn't possible to use the Air Ops window as some sort of tote board, as it might be quite useful?

Hi- tx for the quick reply.

running 775.11.

The question has to do with the air ops window that hosts the unit, not the actual unit window that shows the individual unit's atatus. I

See attached gif. that shows where this intermittent "airborne" indication appeears but I haven't been able to replicate it since last night.

Having this additional bit of information in the base/carrier air ops window seems helpful for large scenarios so that one can see what resources
are on the ground versus in the air. The mission editor screen indeed displays this information but was wondering if it should be replicated in the air ops window for
an expeditious, "urgent" view of air resources assigned to a given base.

Ah I see. Ok this is the air ops so when things take off they're no longer displayed there. You're looking at the status of aircraft at that base.

Hit the o key for the OOB dialog. I think you'll find it has the functionality you're looking for.

Mike- I checked the OOB call up. I am not sure that the OBB is showing the landed or airborne status of the unit. The OOB screen has been hugely helpful in cases where I've lost unit oversight as it provides a physical location of an already airborne unit..

As suggested above, the correct term is appears to be a "tote board"- as a new feature request to aid in an air ops "one stop" situational awareness if deemed worthy of inclusion. The simulation runs fine without it.

Yeah something we'll have to look at for the Advanced Strike Planner [8D]
