Road to Smolensk scenario question

Post by JTP »

Hello;
New to the game, though not to the hobby.

Question: what is the purpose of having some agn units disappear (4th pzg) and others be placed in withdrawal status (every other unit of agn) around turn 2 ?

First I thought I was screwing something up, but via search, found this is by scenario design ?

basically that is AGN moving towards Leningrad and the northern Valdai. Due to the map-edge supply issue that makes this quite a tricky scenario for the Germans as you need to plan how to destroy the initial norhtern pocket around those withdrawals

Thanks for the reply and info.

Just seems strange to even include it in the scenario at all; the scene is about units of agc, etc.

That's because in the first few weeks those units were still fighting on territory included in the scenario map. Unless you want an unhistorical scenario where you have gaping hole with no units present, or cut the map by nearly half you must include them.
