Can't Launch Paratrops for D-Day

Post by dereck »

I have done this before with previous versions but never with 1.00.48 ...

I CANNOT LAUNCH MY PARATROOPS

it says I don't have enough transport even though I have ALL TRANSPORTS IN ENGLAND.

In the only division that I can it has frigging FIGHTER units for me to pick. Where do they come from??

Why can I not get enough air units to transport my airborne units like I used to be able to?

And YES the landing zones ARE valid so that is not the problem.

1st BR Airborne at AF Oxford (AB level 3)
82nd US Airborne at AF Down Ampney (AB level 3)
101st US Airborne at AF Ramsbury (AB level 3)

And none of the transports have flown any miles.

Hmmm... those are what usually stops me. There is unit/transport supplies mode but unit comes up first.

Are you using shift mode to bring up the drop/transport screen? you can see more on that screen.

edit--- you dont need the shift to bring up the screen for a para drop. only for supplies.

Are the transports assigned to a HQ in England?

82nd US Airborne - transport cost 841
101st US Airborne - transport cost 855
1st BR Airborne - transport cost 1321

At the botton is says total Airborne Transport cost 3018 and that the Ready Transport Capacity is 6042.

I can get ONE division to be transported but after that it says I don't have enough transports.

I have NEVER had this problem before in previous games (this is the first with this newer version) and I'm doing the same goddammed thing as before.

And yes, they are all either with the RAF Transport Command (if British) or 50th US Troop Carrier Wing (if American)

The ONLY difference I can THINK of between this game and any others is in this scenario I split ALL US groups into squadrons. Could there have been something I needed to modify in the transport squadrons so they could still carry the same amount of troops?

Sent as e-mail. Giving up on trying to have this work like before and just going to contend with a 1-division paratroop drop.

Thanks for the save. I see what you mean. Only one unit is briging up enough transports. It includes 2 45 plane groups. The others don't include this in the list. There are several 60+ a/c groups that are not showing up at all. I can't say why. I see this is the Crusade in Europe II scenario. This is not one of the standard scenarios, correct? Where did you get this scenario? It will have to go to a programmer to determine why some a/c are not showing up and causing a shortage of transports.

This is my scenario. I've played this before but two differences this time are: I upgraded to 1.00.48 and I split US air groups into squadrons.

I wonder if I have to put the transport squadrons back as groups?

The same issue happens when you try and drop the British and US airborne brigades into Sicily on turn 1 of the grand campaign. I can always seem to drop the British, but the US are problematical at best.
