Not enough PTO games in the market

Post by proflui »

Hi all,

After playing DC:CB and WITE I would like to play some wargames in the WWII pacific theater. I have played Fire in the Sky and would like to see similar game in digital format. However I bought WITP:AE and find it too difficult to learn. I was planning to buy War plan Pacific earlier but the game is pretty old and more importantly it does not look to have any support anymore (I sent multiple emails asking whether the game supports windows 10 but no one ever reply). If there are really no more computer games about PTO, I will be forced to go back to board games again and maybe try Asia Engulfed or Empire of the Sun.

Recently I bought a Native Japanese game about the pacific theater. In English the name is called Pacific war 3. It looks pretty hardcore and interesting. However I do not know Japanese (I know Chinese though). I have the Japanese manual in pdf format. If someone can translate for me in English it will be great. :) If anyone have tried this game please also advise how good the game is also.

There is youtube video about gameplay also.

Learning WitP AE was far easier to me, I quit learning Japanese long time ago.

I never give up learning Witp AE. I try to read a few pages of the manual everyday. I hope eventually I can play it. I am just looking for more varieties.

And one reason I am interested in the mentioned Japanese game is because they reflect the perspective of the Japanese more. When I boot up WITP the whole opening movie is showing how the US fight, to me it looks like missing something (at least in the artistic department. I do not know about gameplay yet). Also, as a Chinese it is not too difficult for me to play some casual Japanese games (like romance of three kingdoms) because they uses a lot of Chinese character and I can guess somehow. But of course it requires a lot more understanding for hardcore wargame. The manual of the mentioned Japanese game have around 300 pages. So this one is definitely not a casual game.
