RE: Let's Play Decisive Campaigns: Barbarossa
Two observations, neither of them biggies.
By using Fast AI you're making the AI Soviets play with a disadvantage. I'm against giving the AI any advantages or disadvantages that a human player doesn't have, but anything faster than the slowest setting can produce less than optimal responses.
I didn't look closely but it seems like you're playing an early version rather than what's currently in use. Don't hold me to that because I don't remember (or really care) what the difference is between 1.01 and 1.02. But a major change that has taken place is the positioning of armored units in Army Group North and the border around Memel. That doesn't seem to be reflected in the few minutes I watched of your playthrough.
And I applaud your use of a propaganda clip featuring Lizt's 'Ming the Merciless' overture (that last comment will only make sense to you if you're familiar with Flash Gordon clips from the '30's).

That's strange. When I run the update service it says I am running the latest version? Odd.
As for giving the AI a disadvantage: I had no idea I did that. I left things on default and paid no mind. I'll certainly not overlook it next time I start a campaign...

Hi Cryirist,
You've got some nice historical footage spliced in there.
I particularly like the german soldier in No.2 who stands straight up in amongst everybody else who is crouching and running. Probably having a moment.
Well done.
Cheers,
Cameron

Yes it's clear that footage is totally not staged. Ultra realistic combat footage, guaranteed by the propaganda kompanie to be 100% authentic!

I'm not surprised. Vilnius was very hard to defend early in 1.01 up to 1.02g.

Hi Cyrist,
The Soviet garrisons - minor and major - that defend cities are randomised (within semi-historical paramaters) so you'll get a different experience each play through. Sometimes you'll have to fight for it, other times not.
Cheers,
Cameron

Despite all kinds of efforts to get more oil to our tanks, I've even ordered commandeering of civilian oil, we seem to have that fuel issue pretty much everywhere [:D]

It looks like the soviets are digging in at Dunaburg. We're getting there though, slowly but surely, in this next part:
