command line switch question

Post by bush »

One of the switches (-fd) is for full screen daily saves. If I am playing multi-day turns does that switch have an adverse effect?

No. At the end of a turn it will save to an empty slot in your saves. From slot 10 and up if I remember correctly. Then continue on to the next turn....GP

So will it overwrite that save slot each day, or will I end up with 4 distinct saves per turn?

It will use one slot per turn. But when you save and exit, those saves will disappear. Next time you play, they start again....GP

What is a full screen daily save?[&:]How is that different from -archive?
Appear at places to which he must hasten; move swiftly where he does not expect you.

Not related.

-d = daily saves: makes automatic saves when you are playing against the AI.

-f = full screen mode: makes the game run in full screen mode.

-w = windowed mode: makes the game run in windowed mode.

-f and -w are mutually exclusive as full screen is the opposite of windowed. The default is full screen, so if you don't have -w you will get full screen even if you don't have -f.

You can concatenate them as -wd or -fd to save space and typing.

Look in your "What's New" PDF.

-archive saves the report files in the \archive sub-folder inside the \SAVE sub-folder. If you use Intel Monkey then you must use the -archive switch because Intel Monkey reads those files that the game saves with the -archive switch.
