Surprisingly, Shaw was rebuilt and served through the war ....

The Shaw "rebuild" was essentially an all new ship with a few fittings form the original. I think she was rebuilt as sort of a publicity thing.

That explosion picture is in basically every Pacific war book I ever read that also had a picture section.

BTW, the silhouetted BB turrets on the right of the OP picture belong to BB Nevada - just underway and heading for the harbour exit. Didn't make it - had to ground herself because of damage and risk of blocking the harbour entrance if she sank there.
