Are you kidding????

Civil War 2 is the definitive grand strategy game of the period. It is a turn based regional game with an emphasis on playability and historical accuracy. It is built on the renowned AGE game engine, with a modern and intuitive interface that makes it easy to learn yet hard to master.
This historical operational strategy game with a simultaneous turn-based engine (WEGO system) that places players at the head of the USA or CSA during the American Civil War (1861-1865).

Are you kidding????

Post by jimkehn »

Sooo....with great anticipation I purchased Civil War II cuz I once had the original ACW game from Ageod. I went thru the tutorial (basic) and then played the basic Shiloh scenario. I made my moves and then advanced the turn. This was at 5:11 AM. Finally at 8:30 AM the computer finished resolving the turn (turn two). Does everyone experience slow turn resolution or do I just need a newer computer. At this rate I wont be playing CW II much lol at least til I can get a newer computer.

I dunno my specs with regard to CPU speed. I know that I have 8 Gig ram and nVidea 550m on a laptop. My computer is about three years old and this could be the reason. I have battle animations masked and the AI thing....use all behaviors turned off. FPS goes from 25 while on the main screen where you play the game down to 2 or 3 while it is resolving a battle. Shame cuz.....I really like this game. I still recommend it to anyone interested in ACW who doesn't have this problem. I will try it on my company's computer, which is an itty bitty thing and no real graphics board but sometimes it seems to be faster (like with paradox's games) than this high powered (but ancient) Asus gaming laptop.

P.S.I run it thru Steam.

OK so I tried it on my company's laptop a little ol thinkpad with no whistles or bells (but obviously a newer and faster CPU) and it works like a charm even with the AI gizmos turned up.....time for a more powerful computer I guess

8 Gig ram and nVidea 550m and a Intel Core i7-2670QM CPU at 2.20 GHZ, 64 bit Operating System isn't a bad system and tbh should be able to work the game fine, so it seems you may have some other issues maybe with it, junk loaded or too many apps on start up etc, as with a clean install and nothing loaded its more than enough to play this game on a descent size,

How to get a DxDiag report file:

1. Click on "START" (on Windows 8 press “Windows key” and the “R” key at the same time)
2. Click "run" (skip this step on Windows 8)
3. Type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. Check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. Click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.

might help me tbh

System DPI Setting: 120 DPI (125 percent)

needs to be at 100% then retry game

Code: Select all

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/443-dpi-display-size-settings-change.html

update your sound drivers as it way out of date 4/12/2011

try and keep more space free on the main windows drive, atm it's fine tbh

Drive: C: Free Space: 21.7 GB
