OT: Merry Christmas!

Post by Bullwinkle58 »

My all-time favorite SNL holiday video.

Our offshore friends may not understand it. (Or Canoerebel.) But any vid that puts a hobbit to work isn't all bad. [:'(]

The best part is near the end when he messes up the Always Be Closing thing.

Judging by the reaction of the audience, I believe most of them never saw the source for this skit:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4PE2hSqVnk

One of the classic movie speeches that everyone in sales & marketing should watch. I've always wanted to show this to up-and-coming audit and tax managers, to reinforce the fact that Big Four partners have annual sales goals. And I'd like to show this to the partners I work with, to remind them that simply throwing a proposal at every prospect in sight is not the true goal.

Oh well, there is always the New Year!

Nah, the star was Bullwinkle. He was the one who could pull a rabbit out of the hat, except he didn't know his own strength so it might be a lion being pulled out of the hat instead. Plus it was Bullwinkle who would read the bed time stories so the little kiddies would go to sleep with his soothing words in their consciousness.

This is a time of merry making not war waging. Eating like Hobbits, drinking like Dwarves, dancing like Elves and making love like Orcs.

P.S. Sorry, I'm drunk! Enjoy your holidays folks!

Christmas Eve is the day when my family and I pile in our car, drive 2.5 hours to visit with family for 2.0 hours, and then drive 2.5 hours back home. It's always been a fun time, both the get together and the kids being excited about the holiday. But now they're 18, 21 and 23. Soon they'll be doing their own things - heck, we're very fortunate the tradition has continued this long!

And as I drove home deep in the night, no doubt a few AE thoughts will cross my mind as I plan new ways to "tickle" John III, my UV/WitP/AE opponent these past 13 years or so.

Over the river and through the woods, my thoughts wander to Sumatra and Burma and New Caledonia.

Merry Christmas and a festive holiday season to all you good people.
