Prototypes

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Prototypes

Noticed in 1943 scenario 23 tank div in 6th Army has some StulG33B which I think were prototype assault guns that were used in some number in Stalingrad. They don't seem to appear in 1941-45 campaign.

While on the subject, could we get some stubborn Emil's. I know only two were used but one did score (or claim) 22 kills. Not worth it, if it has to displace something else, just a thought.

StuIG 33 were special builds for Stalingrad, AFAIR 24 were made. Experience gained with them probably helped developing the Sturmpanzer IV. The units using them were either destroyed or reverted to standard StuGs after losing most of the special ones.

So could we at least have those StuIG 33Bs in the 41-45 campaign? 24 is a decent number and there's clearly a slot for them already.

Not easy to get them in as you won't get all vehicles from production and the units operating them are already active with standard StuGs. There's also no OB to use them in late 42.
In GC43 they are likely kicked out of 23rd Panzer div as it's occupying the CS tank slot.
To get them properly installed I would need to add two Stug companies that arrive with the vehicles and are disbanded in 7/43 when their parent StuG Bns are reformed to contain Heavy Assault Guns.

How can they not be created by production? I would have thought you could just build them and use an AP to (part) equip the units of your choice? Founf this in Wiki- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sturm-Inf ... 3%BCtz_33B

There is no manual change of elements in units. Even if you would set up dates and a factory so that 20-30 were built, you'd still have to pray for the engine to put them in some unit.

Of course, and then pray the engine didn't swap them out :/

I have now added two Stug companies arriving with them. The 177th arrives late November 42, the 244th in late January 43. Both will disband July 43.
