War in the West Tutorial Videos

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

The videos are very well done, and I'm sure they will help me learn the basics of the game.

I am surprised there is no video tutorial about ground movement and combat. The most important thing in the game, perhaps?

Hi jglazier,

Also one of the easiest - we felt the Player's Handbook and Manual covered that one well enough. The videos are focused on the areas where we felt the learning curve was potentially the steepest.

Regards,

There's also a video by Slitherine (Gary Grigsby's War in the West (December 3, 20:00 CET / 14:00 EST)) that explains how to play the game.

Unfortunately, I am not allowed to add the link.

thanks all poster, needing the extra help atm so thanks all again, getting up to speed and so far while i still don't know much i'm at least getting a bit better at least knowing now where i'm going wrong each turn and move [:D][;)]

while the learning curve is steep, it's a mountain i'll climb and seems to be worth the effort with the game looking and so far feeling very good, only wanted the editor btw which atm hasn't been touched but given time will learn all aspects of the game and maybe mod some stuff for myself and play that, so anything that you think new players will need to know please share as i'll never play online / head to head so it's always going to be against the AI and all battles fought will be to the bitter end, no matter how badly i play them[&o][&o][&o]

thanks for a good game

The series from pewpewchewchew, the last series listed in the original post, really helped me understand air directives, in particular video #2. Creating air directives seemed to confuse me until I watched that video and followed his moves to create my own air directives. Now what seemed complex to me seems simple, though I know there is a great deal I still don't know. The series is very helpful in other ways, too.
