Campaign functionality?

Post by Gunner98 »

Am looking at putting the Northern Fury series into the new campaign format. Must say I haven’t paid much attention to the development or discussion, have been quite busy lately, so if there is a good outline or discussion please point me to it.

I believe that the current version simply links scenarios together with a victory threshold. yes/no?

Is there a plan to incorporate branching? I.e. if Triumph than branch to Scen X, if defeat than Scen Y etc.

Is there a plan to link units from scenario to scenario with ammunition and casualty tracking?

What other features are planned for this function?

Would appreciate comment from the Devs please.

Thanks

B

Hi Gunner,

In another thread I said the campaign editor looked quite straight forward ..... I may have spoken too soon!

Probably just be me doing something wrong.

Really looking forward to seeing some of the community scenarios put together as campaigns, even if only a few scenarios long it gives some sense of progression.

Agree that branching and linking casualties/ammo etc would be fantastic if it could be done, although I suspect they may be difficult to implement.

This is what annoy me the most when we cannot combine scenario files into a single entity like campaign file or multi-scenarios file. I'm really looking for it too.

Dysta,
Have you looked in the Editor in the latest version ?

Editor > Campaign > Create New

It looks like you should be able to combine scenarios into a new campaign.
However I have tried it and can't get it to work. In fact if I try create one it messes up my Northern Inferno [&:] (although that's easy to put right again)

Don't know if anybody has got this to work yet!

Another Bump!

Still trying to find out IF we can use the New Campaign feature in the Editor to bundle a number of existing scenarios into a new campaign.

I've had a couple of attempts at trying to like a few of the community scenarios into a campaign format.
I have followed the same directory structure as the NI campaign and opened up the NI campaign file to compare it with the file generated for a new campaign - all looks ok.

However with a new campaign generated it causes CMANO to crash until I delete the new directory/files.
Probably me doing something wrong, but would find it helpful just to know if it should work or not.

There are some truly great scenario series being created by the community and many of them would work really well in a campaign form.

Hi, please give us some time to investigate this issue.

It is clearly our intent to provide scenario authors with the very same tools that we used while making NI.

Thanks Sunburn,

I'm still seeing the same as reported here http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3961889

Only difference is that in the latest attempts I saved the new campaign file to a directory that only contained copies of the scenarios I was using the test the campaign feature. (Previously I had just saved to the community scenario directory).

Would be really nice to see some of the community scenarios packaged into a campaign (Northern Fury etc).

Could just be that I'm doing something wrong, but can't figure out what!

Is there any documentation for the campaign editor? I can't even seem to find a forum post describing what functionality it supports.
