Hotfix 1.08.06 for public beta

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Didn't happen to me in 10 turns, the division slowly got to 83. Some morale growth is allowed, because they are below NM, but this shouldn't be instant.

Well, unfortunately it was instant as you can see in the screenshot. What makes it even worse is that the unit was on Ready and next to enemy units.

I had this happen twice. Once +9 and the other time +10. And I only looked at those two Panzer Divisions.

I'm very concerned about this as it makes combat results somewhat irrelevant. You could have these 75 morale unit lose combats over and over again in a turn and the next turn they are miraculously at 85 morale because of a dice roll. Doesn't make sense to me.

We all know that morale is of the battlefield so this is no minor issue.

But it was artificial test. Kept at 0 fatigue, 0 combat, 2mp to rail, 200% supplies. No surprise boys were happy and their morale grew. I don't know why morale of German units must be treated differently than Soviet. 85 is NM level for a panzer division in 1941. Let them enjoy good weather and they'll rebound. It will still take time to use that enthusiasm and raise their experience to 85.

I would only add requirement to be away from enemy for the 10% growth, but it's always a danger of snowball for the advancing side due to igoyougo nature.

On the main screen the movement points are no longer shown, see below:

You are looking at defense values. Hit z-key and you will see movement points again. It happens.

When I try to redo the directX its asking me which folder to install it in. Usually they would prefill a folder. I also have the dll issue.

Since I have no idea where I should officially put the directx, does anyone have a suggestion?

thanks

Will this fix be available from the members downloads or whatever its called at some time? Works best for me; avoids all above issues.

OMG, just read 1st post again and read that in a week or so this'll be on the installers system. Sorry.

If I load an existing 1.05 save game file from my turn 1 (i.e., pre-end turn) save will it function with that save, or
Should I start a new game.
I'm only 7 turns in, so it's not a big deal if I have to start over.

On Steam, if we are opting IN to the Beta, is this hotfix in the current beta there?

I can switch back, certainly, but the logical next question is whether the update to Steam will be forthcoming sooner than later. Do you have an ETA of the Steam update?

since the v1.08.06 is just an executable hotfix... one probably could just overwrite the WarInTheEast.exe in the Steam installation folder with the Hotfix version. Be sure to copy the Steam WarInTheEast.exe someplace safe in case it doesn't work out due to Steam pickiness.

What I'm actually doing is copying my save file from the directory Steam uses and back into the Matrix location. Working flawlessly. Of course, not everyone keeps both versions. And I'll move it back at some point, too, because I like to log my play hourse.
