Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

Ground support air groups in unit detail panel

Post by coolts »

(Sorry guys, but I'm having a 20 questions week)

The list has groups listed with an (e) or (b), (Bomber and Escort?) and a (*).

Does the (*) indicate that the group is already tasked with some other AD? Or something else?
I'm trying to figure out why sometimes I get 100's of aircraft showing up for a battle and sometimes none when this is on auto.

So far the excuse list is;

I've inadvertently turned GS-Off with my little finger.
It's raining and all the air crews are playing darts or down the pub.
The "Auto" setting for GS AD has zero groups available and I haven't noticed before ending the air phase.
I've inadvertently given all GS groups <70% morale the week off.

..The mysterious asterisk may be another reason to add to my list of ground support "no shows"..

Not eligible for the various reasons:

- Expended all mileage
- Can't pass air doctrine requirement.
- etc..

That makes sense. But if it allows me to add groups to an AD, shouldn't it check they are at least eligible?

You could be right it shouldn't show assigned air groups.
