Hey Warspite tell the truth, were you stripped down to your socks in preparation?

I shouldn't watch these games. I've held my thumbs for Wales. I've held my thumbs for France. Then for Ireland. And finally for Scotland.

Go figure...

Whatever, I liked watching Australia vs. Scotland and South Africa vs. Wales most - thrilling to the end!

The Argentines rang...they've asked you to stop holding your thumbs [;)] Isn't that some weird Mittel European version of keeping your fingers crossed? [:)]

Anyhoo, it's not all bad for England. They've climbed above Winterfell on the latest official rugby standings apparently [:'(]

Australia did their best to lose that match - even the move with James Slipper (a prop) at 1st receiver 40m from the goal-line, in pouring rain and with 6 minutes left, throwing a deep cutout pass to a winger running an awkward line didn't work! Tries were gifted to Scotland at such regular intervals that I thought at one stage an Indian bookie must be coaching the team. At least we won despite our own ineptitude and Scottish doggedness, and are through against an Argentinian team who may have played their final two weeks too early.

It is quite apparent though that Australia cannot win this World Cup without Mr. D.Pocock. His calf will be the most discussed piece of human anatomy this week in the Australian media, even if some of those beauties in the other thread were to bare themselves on national television!

Warspite as a Scotsman I agree . However scots rugby in particular is often at its best when the team is written off . Remember Murrayfield 1990 a scots team that were supposed to turn up and keep the score down. Here is a thought Scotland are making the best with what they have Can all the home nations say the same?
Game is about top start so lets see[:)]

Are they all making the best with what they have?

Well England clearly not and Wales could have won that game but have been unlucky with injuries so probably did about as well as they were going to.

We are talking sport here so yes it is possible Scotland could win (and I certainly hope they do) but I will run down the street naked if they get within 10 points of Australia - i.e. it ain't gonna happen.

Sometimes you need to be careful with predictions, and what you will do if they don't come off! In 2008 I watched the Wallabies play Italy in Padova, and declared that if Australia were to lose I would swim across the Grand Canal naked. At halftime it was 14-14 and I was staring at a pretty cold swim. Only a late try to Australia saved what might have been an embarrassing transit of the canal and possibly a night in an Italian jail cell.

earthquake in France after this disaster against New Zealand...

hope they will take good decisions:
- out PSA
- back to rugby academies
- keeping 3/4 places in each club for our best Young players.

And I'm now supporting Argentina! I like desesperate fights [;)]

Semi Finals this weekend:

NZ should be too slick for the Springboks, and Australia, with Pocock and Folau back, should knock over Argentina in a close game.

Those were my exact feelings this morning![:D] Too much kicking away possession and some of those grubbers were a waste of good ball. Still, winning ugly is still a win. The Boks were always going to be tough. On to the next semi-final now, Go the Pumas!

Australia - New Zealand... Why did they came so far from their country to play each other?

Phew!!!

That was worrying for a time there. As has been proved time and again - never write-off the Aussies in sport.

Congratulations to the Kiwis!! [:)] Deserved.

The All Blacks are well deserved winners, been the best team in world rugby for the past 4 years.

The Wallabies needed everything to fall their way to have a chance, and it just didn't happen on the day.
