My father has a short snorter made up of currency from places he stopped at during the war. It has one or two Hawaii notes in it.

I was talking to my father on the phone when this came in. Synchronicity.

One of my Uncles was on patrol in the Wewak area, mid 1945 and discovered a japanese attache case filled with "Occupation Money", for use in New Guinea.

The notes found a vital use as toilet paper, probably worth millions now!

Rates a mention in The Second Eighth: a history of the 2/8th Australian Infantry Battalion, (Melbourne: 2/8th Battalion Association, 1984).
