HMS New Zealand

Post by jakla1027 »

Hello,

Does anyone have a late 1930's or early 40's modernized version of HMS New Zealand in their WiTP:AE game/editor?
I wanted to included her into my scenario as if she was kept by the New Zealand Navy after WWI & the Washington naval treaty.
I have already copied as much as I could from WPO & have the art work. I'm just wondering about an early WWII era AA arrangement. Has anyone here made the stats in the editor for a WWII New Zealand, or does anyone have any good recommendations for what the AA setup would be like on her?

Thanks

Might be a bit difficult to assign her a proper medium AA suite, given the set-up of her wing turrets, but I'll have a go.

Here's my version. The casemate-mounted 4in guns have been removed, and replaced with 4in HA mounts. The ship is assumed to have converted to oil burning and had a very slight deck armour upgrade. Not really worth it, but she was quite a symbol to the Kiwis, so why not?

Plus the kiwis basically paid for her construction, so why not let them keep her as a symbol! [:D]

Anyway thank you very much Terminus!![&o]

Could I ask you to do some more stats for other ships sometime?

I see I forgot to change the designation of her main battery. They should be called Mk XIII. No different from the Mk X, but still...

Whilst on the topic of Agincourt there was a plan to convert her to a Mobile Naval Base which maybe more useful for a WitP:AE player.

Hello,

I have another request Terminus if you have the time.

How about the WWI era British K class submarine? The horrendous "killer" class. If you could make her that would be sweet. If you have any thoughts or theories on what a modernised version would look like for early WWII I'd be glad to see it.

Thanks for your time Terminus[&o]

You might be better off with an updated HMS X1 (with fixed engines), rather than trying to fix the Ks, though K26 supposedly fixed most of the problems.

Here's a first draft. It's difficult to conceive of these two types getting any sort of comprehensive refits, given how suicidal the K-class was and the "White Elephant" status of the X1. Seriously, I think I'd rather hop down an open elevator shaft than be on a diving K-class.

I see there's a couple of errors in the K-class writeup. The TTs in slots 3 and 4 should be LS and RS, respectively.

On the "K" class sub, shouldn't the Durability be closer to 20 to represent her max dive depth of 200 feet.

Thank you.

Correct. This really was a first draft. Reduced the "K" class to 20 Dur and the X1 to 35 Dur.
