If you still have fuel stocks in the south pacific, send the KB to strategic bomb Australian industry.

My only reaction is "Lol, yes, do this."

Lots of dogfights over Honshu...can't really complain about the results.
B29s fly across the world to base at Singers where they sallie forth and sink 2 CLs and a half dozen smaller cargo ships hiding in ports trying to fix their sys damage. Finding bases to repair damage is all but impossible...I don't think there was any recon on one of the bases, perhaps sigint?
Allied Carrier task force is steaming due west and is now north north east of Luzon. There is an AP spotted now too...[X(]

Unless he's decided he doesn't care about walking into China, and would rather get those guys to the Vietnamese coast (Saigon and CR Bay) for later amphib transport across the South China Sea to targets aplenty...

The War grinds on...
Over Honshu the Allies sweep Nagasaki and Hiroshima and are met. Our planes are no match for the Jugs and Spitfires that do the sweeping, but we inflict a good ratio of losses. 17 more Jugs gone.
Georges sweep the Allies. The combat report has equal losses, but in reality the George drops almost twice as many as we lose. [:)]

The Allies don't bomb the troops on Shikoku...
But go for industry at Maebashi. Fighters on duty...survive the sweep and attack the B29. A6M2 from the early war ram the beasties twice! We drop 6 4E beasties here and damage 20 more.
The J2M3 can kill claiming two A2A kills...pity we were swept by Jugs first. Really liking this version of the Jack...sr2. They got quite a few Jugs kills over Nagasaki, too.

Another day where I really can't complain about the loss ratio of planes....at least 6 four engines beast go down (4b29, 2 b24) plus 4 recon 4Es.

RE: KB Strikes!
Forward elements take the hexside in nice terrain on Shikoku. Can they hold...I suspect they will be bombed into oblivion tomorrow and attacked, but the 3rd Tank Division will arrive in combat mode and avoid the bombing. Will it be enough?

Indochina...Allied troops going every which direction. IJA ART bombardment takes out another dozen plus afvs in the jungle. The perils of moving forward with just tanks...

Another deep, deep invasion. I attacked this fleet 3 days ago off Daito and lost all the bombers despite a good Frank A escort of 50 planes. 2 days ago I spotted an AP and now the destination is known.
I guess a better player would really be able to make the Allies pay for such deep invasions, bypassing so much territory. Heck, I still have Port Moresby, parts of Oz, lower Solomons, parts of the Marianas, the Bonins, Okinawa, PI, SRA, etc.
Just juicing my fighter production sooner would have won me the air war over Honshu.
I have never played this late, and now see quite clearly all the major things I have done wrong...so take care Jocke![:)]

Survive a fight here...reinforcing the road position above Pakse, but he is moving 7 units into Pakse and they are now short AT weapons.

RE: KB Strikes!
Franks and Tonies sweep but catch only 2 Seafires and promptly down them. Allied plane losses are 26 for the day, compared to 20 Japanese. Small solace for the upcoming Chinese invasion.
I lost a lot to the CAP over the deathstar.
I guess I can get 5 divisions there, but I have really run out of AT weapons...

If his troop movements in Vietnam and such were actually Step 1 of a plan here, this is really fun to watch [;)].
RE: KB Strikes!
I am glad somebody is having fun. In the good news category I may limit the Allies success on Shikoku to one base. On the basis that he is overextending himself, I will make a serious push to evict his 3 divisions...we shall see.
I have about 7 division enroute to the the southern Chinese plains, but woefully short of anti tank weapons.
I am contesting the invasion with 3 pt boats and one sub, with more subs and destroyer on the way including some BB. The Carriers are heading south to bomb Australia I think. Plenty of fuel...and 300 planes in carriers won't get thru 500 plane CAP.
So to recap, no port is safe, but a lot are not being observed currently. Still have large swaths of territory, but planes are short and production keeps getting hammered. I think the Allies are past 25K strategic VP -- I have budgeted them for 40K but perhaps they will get significantly more.
Hong Kong has 5 destroyers in the yards, for you AFBs that get to beating up on Poor Japan like this, make every effort to keep the shipyards under observation for nasty B29 strikes. Not that 5 destroyers are going to do much, but you might as well punish Japan even more why you can.

He might be in for an Anzio in the pacific, that's a vulnerable supply line. Good hunting.

Possible, but I doubt it. As Lowpe states, this is a learning experience.ORIGINAL: panzer cat

Once the allies crack the IJ defense 'shell', the end comes very fast.
Been a lot of AAR's to document this. Even knowing this though, it is REALLY hard to avoid. It is tough to give up real estate that you fought hard for in '42.
But that is what you need to do. You have to continually contract your perimeter to be able to match forces with the allies as their strength grows.
The only way to avoid this is if in '42/'43 you are able to inflict serious losses on the allies and/or are able to read your opponents mind (a la PzB)
and anticipate your opponents attacks and be able to repulse them even in '44.
To be fair, Lowpe picked this game up and his position was terrible. He has done a REALLY good job given where he started.
