Crew complement by ship class

Post by Yaab »

Is there a comprehensive list (both USN nad IJN) of approximate crew numbers for all ships classes i.e.

BB - 3,000 men
CV - 3,000 men
CM - 150 men
Barge - 20 men
etc.

In this game, I tend to think about ships in terms of VPs then sailors and use the ships too carelessly compared to the real life.

Been there. There is info for each individual ship class. I was thinking of a list of all WWII classes in one place.

At least for the IJN these numbers don't seem to be written in stone. From Shattered Sword seems there was quite a difference between peacetime and wartime contingents. So I at least take these numbers with a grain of salt.

In honor of Yogi... I complement them all the time; there's more of them than me.

See if this works for you:

Hyperwar is fairly accurate for listing war time complement.
Scroll down to U.S. Navy & Coast Guard Vessels by Type (Class, and Name)

Not all ships are there but you should get a good idea of crew size.

And the numbers changed over time. More AA guns, more crew. Flag, more crew. I imagine more electronics, more crew.
