If this costs for Germany, it costs even more for CW.
Edit: round 4?

If your attack is going really well, it's an ambush.

Allied 6, Axis 10. The great naval combat is over.
Where do BB Hood abort?
I will continue tomorrow morning, it is getting too late. Good night to all who followed this massacre.

If I calculated correctly CW lost 17 BPs and Germany 9 BPs.
I was thinking if I should try to sink CVs but decided to go after transporters. Now CW cannot land any units to Netherlands and lack of transporters will slow CW.

Revenge is sweet. Great outcome for Germany.

Ah! I missed the strategic bombing.ORIGINAL: Mayhemizer
ORIGINAL: yvesp
ORIGINAL: Courtenay
By my count, the Axis just made 19 die rolls, not one of which was lower than a 4. .7^19 = .00114, or less than 1 chance in 875.
Hum.
Rolling 4 or less is a 6% occurence on 2d10. The chance of rolling that 19 times is (1-0.06)^19=30%
That's fairly standard.
Hi all. I think Courtenay means all rolls, including 1D10 ground strikes.
I did not realize earlier: ship overruns, US entry rolls, ground strikes and even 2D10 (even if one dice is 10) included no low numbers.
Edit: japanese strategic bombing failed on a 1 (post #29).
The other axis rolls were 10 ground strikes, 2 ship overruns, 3 US entry rolls, and 4 rolls in two land combats; all four or greater, each roll being a 70% chance. The strat raid I missed rather spoils the effect, though.
I thought I knew how to play this game....

Japan rails MIL from Manchuria to Tungkwan.
Italy moves two units in Libya.
German units move towards Amsterdam and Lodz.
Japanese units move few hexes all over China.
Germany invades Amsterdam, land units in Netherlands joins the combat. Von Leeb leads attack in Lodz.
Japan takes a calculated risk and declares +6 attack against Communist Chinese city of Yenan. If they fail, too bad. If they succeed, Communist Chinese are in trouble. The only thing I'm realy afraid is final result 14, attacker loses 3 units...
Amsterdam is automatic with or without notional units. Do CW choose not to use notional units?

Final odds in Poland IF both sides use HQ support.
Do Polish HQ want use defending HQ support? Is it assault or Blitz?

CW must choose one unit to be destroyed and another to be shattered.
If I would have rolled 2 higher this impulse would have been perfect. I think this impulse was the best I have ever had. Even better than taking Paris with 10% change and turn ends before France can do near automatic counter attack...

Shatter 5-3 Inf. This isn't a game. So far it's nothing more than a crapshoot. We may as well just flip a coin and declare winner. I call heads.

Germany rebases Bf109 from Poland to central Germany, Ju88 to Essen, Ju52 to Frankfurt and Bf109 from southern Germany to Aachen.
Back to Allies.
I feel very lucky. I think I try my luck in Eurojackpot today...

The targeting of the CW TRS is a very good decision. It hampers the ability for the CW to reinforce important area's for a long time. I always say that if you can kill off CW, Japanese or Italian TRS in early war, you are doing very good indeed.
I'm therefore surprised that the Dutch TRS was setup in the Netherlands. It should have been setup in either the Caribbean or the NEI to prevent that it was going to be destroyed in the surprise impulse. It's the most valuable unit the Dutch has IMHO...

Hmm. I'm not entirely sure why I put it there. I think I was trying to preserve as many CP's as possible, which is why it was in Netherlands, but why it was on it's own in Amsterdam [&:]. Partly it was playing the percentages and losing. It isn't large odds that both the invasion would get through and the over-run would result in capture/destroy but, in this case, the run of the dice went against me. I guess it comes down to the old WiF adage: If you can't afford the worst possible result, don't do it.
