Using Charts as overlays?

Post by hellfish6 »

While I like the overlays, I have fond reminiscences of the US DoD Joint Operational Graphics. I tried importing them, but couldn't get it to work. Is there a possibility in the future that we might be able to import them? I'd just basically like to 'paint' them on the map for aesthetic purposes - make target areas a little more colorful. Maybe just let me scale and click-drag them to plop 'em where they need to go.

Just a pie-in-the-sky request.

Make an overlay in GMap over the area you want to place that image, replace the .png that gmap makes with your image, while keeping the other file that gmap makes.

Probably your best shot is to backproject it into equirectangular form and then put that in with either GMaps or handcoding a worldfile.
