EMP Weapons

Lately I've been fascinated by this little gizmo:

And was working on ways I could employ it. Specifically, I was fascinated by the EMP warhead for use as a penetration aid to knock out the radars of the things which might shoot down the other missiles. Is there currently provisions for EMP weapons or is that still a future capability on the "to do" list?

According to the Mega-FAQ, the game supports EMP warheads, but I can't think of EMP weapons in game (or even if their effects are properly modeled.

EMP effects from nuclear detonations are coming in v1.09 (and yes, you can do an orbital/high-alt "Goldeneye" detonation too, through Lua). Non-nuclear EMP weapons are in the pipeline for a bit later.

Will there be a range of levels of EMP proofing? I remember that RN ships have extensive testing to make sure they are protected.
