Trouble Opening Some Scenario Docs

Post by Calvinist »

I have been hanging on to TOAWIII for a while, and reading about the new patch got me to install and give it a shot.
Though the game itself seems to run fine I found several of the Scenario Documents that come with TOAWIII are impossible to open with Office 2013 on Windows 10, and since my PDF reader can't convert them I don't know if it's a compatibility or corruption issue.
Could anyone upload the documents for the following scenarios for me? Also, converting them to pdf or docx would be nice, just in case it is a compatibility thing.

I'm using this free software and have no problems opening those docs. You could try it, if doesn't work maybe a reinstall is in order.

I am going to try and see if that is the issue.

No dice, these must be corrupt. I don't see anywhere on the disc that I could find the individual documents, either.
Since I have Office 2013 and have tried the Word reader I am pretty sure they're just messed up.

PM me your email address and I will send you the files.

Edit: although, since there could be other files corrupted, perhaps a complete reinstall is a better option. Your choice.

I was worried about that, but the scenarios seem to load fine and I don't get any weird errors just playing around with stuff. Obviously if this doesn't work out you're right, I'll want to do a fresh install.
PMing you my email here.

They are in the scenario folders with the .sce files, if that is what you mean.

Thanks, they were received and open just fine. No idea what the deal was, but since it only seems to have affected these particular documents I am content to let it be one of the mysteries of digital wonkiness.

Note that some scenario designers include PDF files

Yes, and those work fine. In fact some of the .doc files were working fine, too, though it was only .doc files I had any problem with.
