Any Market-Garden Scenarios Out There?
The subject pretty much sums it up.

RE: Any Market-Garden Scenarios Out There?
Westwall starts with Market Garden poised to launch. The week long turns and 10 mile hexes mean that MG is only really considered in a wider context of the West Front.

Ok... I was looking for another short scenario to jump into instead of Husky. Would be cool to see a 4-5 turn scenario around the MG battle, the prep and aftermath so to speak.

RE: Any Market-Garden Scenarios Out There?
totally agree, would also love Market-Garden as well, will play with the editor and see what i can do, but don't think it will be this side of Christmas anyway as too much on atm, but MG is my passion and has been for 30 odd years of war gaming, great battle and needs to compete with MG on the ZX spectrum, really a great game to play regarding the full battle, but there's been others, just not capturing it all imo as well, old vga yes and style, but pure gaming it was brill for it's time

RE: Any Market-Garden Scenarios Out There?
You could use John's Westwall scenario and cut down the playable map area and make a shorter more focused scenario.
All understanding comes after the fact.

RE: Any Market-Garden Scenarios Out There?
zoom in, in the north, where tbh i gain the best and furthest moves / gains in the whole battle
bit of carpet bombing to help the push to the bridges, leaving nothing elsewhere on day one for the Air, so 100% max effort gets results, medium cost for air losses, but helps the ground, everywhere else not shown does one attack where the odds are good then goes on the defensive unless ground to take is easier than losses gained etc
5 VL taken on end of day one, with all being is full support in depth so won't loose any in a counter attack, and supply likes all protected, air to shift focus next turn to support and air cover, with a max one turn effort at the final bridge to help push that battle, then Arnhem's mine, but keeping it will be another story, as i can hold then and see if i have enough points for a win with 5 VL's taken and hold out in depth...

RE: Any Market-Garden Scenarios Out There?
so 4 tests plays, same distance covered on day one, with a wide support and follow up by land based troops to bolster the airborne drops
because of map scale it's not pure MG but not half bad, i'd still like a pure MG only battle and have it per so many hours based, not day or weeks, and have the scale lower for maps and troops, but well worth a quick play / test for MG lovers imo...

RE: Any Market-Garden Scenarios Out There?
day one loses are very low for men, planes are medium to high tbh, but that's a support choice i made, will re test some different ones to see a sweet spot on the push v's loses for air in this battle

air loses
so maybe choice of units and hight used, plus amount of attacks need altering and tweaking, but i'm sure i'll find a happy medium with support and attacks v's acceptable loses soon with some more testing[&o][&o][&o]

RE: Any Market-Garden Scenarios Out There?
and with what only can be said as a brilliant move by the AI, 12k of my best men go into captivity in one great attack, they surrender before being wiped out, so it seems today, it's still a bridge too far
a really good battle, map and game test, my god that went to the last, enjoyed it, and still lost[;)]

great AI and design btw[&o]

RE: Any Market-Garden Scenarios Out There?
a swift revenge for the loss of my airborne troops as i surround and capture 2 large pockets of axis forces
seems they reinforced the north around the bridges too well and left gaps elsewhere for me to go into, so in the end it may be a bridge too far but without the re deployment of forces into the area, elsewhere on the west wall may have been stronger than it is and was then[X(][;)][8|]
