Post by wings7 »

When I went to order "Pike and Shot: Campaigns" I was only given a 53% discount instead of the 75% discount as advertised at checkout (I own the original Pike and Shot). What gives? [&:]

The 75% percentage (US$27) is calculated over the digital edition. If you want a box edition then it will cost more US$15.
These US$15 are for covering the costs of the printed manual, disk and the case.

This happens with all our sales. Our physical editions will usually cost extra US$10/15 than the digital editions.

Thank you for your response. In the future you should explain this in your discount ads. It would save alot of confusion, anger and possible sales! I always buy the Physical Editions with manuals!

What happened to the 75% discount? Now it's a $27 regardless of which version, download or physical? My math says $27 is not a 75% discount from $39.99. The price increased? Physical was $50.99 earlier this weekend.

Hi guys,

Sorry for any confusion. You have to enter your P&S serial as a coupon number to get the discount.

All prices refer to the digital editions and we feel trying to say 2 prices everywhere instead of 1 would lead to a different a we think greater confusion which is why we do it this way.

E.g. when a game is 10% off its 10% of the digital price and the physical price is always the same amount above it. So if the digital/physical price is $29.99/$39.99 and it is 10% off the digital/physical price is $26.99/$36.99. This is how we've done it for 15 years so it works pretty well as we almost never get any queries. This is the first time I remember it so feel it is the best option when explaining things.

Hi Iain,
Thanks for the explanation, but I get that.
What I see is I put the digital version in my cart ($39.99) and enter my serial for the discount and the discount is $27. Isn't 75% of $39.99 = $29.99?

Iain, I still think you should write up the discounts for "digital and "physical". What can it hurt? It would make it much clearer, confusion tends to relate to lost sales...something any business would abhor!

Hi Patrick

we feel it will cause confusion rather than clear it up which is why we didn't do it that way. We also couldn't phrase it as a $30 discount as it varies as the price varies. I know what you are suggesting but we feel in this case what we have done is the better option.

Tommict I can see the issue and we have fixed it. This was related to the launch discount of 10%. It has finished but he discount did not adjust to cover that. Try again now.

Cheers

Iain,

Fixed, thank you! I could have sworn the physical version was $50.99 on Friday - perhaps a release discount? Regardless, it's too small a difference to matter with the discount, purchasing now along with CC on sale this weekend! I like to batch games in my purchases, keeps shipping costs low.

Yes there was a 10% launch discount for the first week - it ended Thursday last week.

Iain, forgive my ignorance, how does the price vary in a sale?
